Farming is a great way to gather materials. Below is a list of all crops that currently exist.

Leaves, Flowers, Grass, Vines, Lily Pads, Saplings.
Grass can be farmed by breaking almost any plant block. They can drop Grass String, Dandelion, Wheat Bundle, and with the Farmer's Hat they can drop Hay.
Coconuts can be found on the Coconut Island. You are able to farm 8 every in-game hour. Coconuts are a great source of Stamina.

There are many upgrades that can be unlocked by farming. Hoes can increase the amount of Grass String, Wheat, and Hay that you can obtain. The Farmer's Hat can grant you the ability to collect Hay when breaking grass blocks. Scythes can allow you to obtain Wheat or Grass String quicker. Hoes can allow you to obtain Wheat or Grass String every time you break a Grass block without a cooldown.
